PEOPLE WHO DON'T
GO CHURCH
DURING THE WEEKEND

During the solemn season of Lent,

the Catholic Church requires that all Catholics fast, pray, and abstain from eating meat on the holy days of Ash Wednesday and Good Friday...

Step 1
The first thing to note about fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday is that fasting is only required of those age 18 to 59. And there are exceptions to those in this age range as well. Specifically, those of unsound mind, the sick, the frail, pregnant or nursing women, and manual laborers according to need are all excused from observing the Lenten fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Step 2
For those who are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, fasting refers to eating less than you normally would. In more specific terms, that means eating only one full meal during the day and two smaller meals, which if added together would not exceed the main meal in quantity.

Step 3
In order to properly fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, you must remember not to eat anything in between your smaller than normal meals. You are, however, permitted to drink in between meals so long as the drink is not considered food, such as a milk shake or smoothie.
